It is an unforgettable three months. During this trip, I have learned much more than before, not only have made a great progress in speaking English, but also learned the culture and the ideas of the America and some Euro countries.  

    To be frank, I was not as excited as the other guys while we were arriving in New York, which maybe the most powerful city in the world. But anyway, I can also sense how strong the city is, especially while you are working at the Wall Street. I have spent two nights at NY, and after a short lecture given by the inter-exchange officer, I got my work city -the south Wellfleet.

    I was a little disappointed when I saw my work restaurant, and perhaps it is proper to call it a small fast food bar. And I lived in a small car house which was cool in the summer and cold in the autumn where I had to pay 90 dollars to stay. It was so small that we had to do everything, such as cooking, washing dishes, cash register, waiter……anyway it is a hard work and only paid us 7 dollars per hour, also the least salary I have ever heard. So it is better to select a large restaurant before you get here, these are the reasons: at first you can get more chances to know more persons, secondly, you can not get the least salary, and the next is you can get more tips. But you know, working at a large restaurant, maybe you just can do one kind of job, so it is a little boring, fourthly, the large place usually open longer sometimes the whole year, so you can work as long as you can, I have to find another place just because it was closed at OCT.

    For the Chinese students, it is not a good choice to get a job in a restaurant, just because most of us are unfamiliar with the American food. It took me at least three weeks to remember everything in that restaurant. The boss was very angry when I did not know something of them. It is easy to do the job in a hotel, shop, but you are losing something while you are getting something, working in the restaurant is the best place for you to practice your oral English, especially to do the waiter cash register, but they usually hire the local people to make them, but perhaps you can get that job in a small restaurant or your English is so good that there is on problem to understand and talk with the customers. And to be not upset while being blamed or feeling bad on your English, it is the common thing to make something worry at the first few days, even though your boss are mad at you, you should not keep it in mind, every boss yell at his employees so that he can make you work harder even you have already worked as hard as you can.

    It is better to keep in mind that you want to enjoy your holiday and practice your English making use of this opportunity, and someone can visit the college you are interested in. In your spare time you can travel around your favorite city near your work place. I spent three days in Boston, went to Rochester to see my friend, and returned NY the day I leave.
